In 1906, the GNR recorded 293 Express Vans of this general type, including variants and duplicates. These vans were supplemented by a longer (18ft) version of which 194 were tallied at this date.
The vehicles were originally fitted with 3ft 6in coach pattern (“Mansell”) wheels with axleguards and springs wider than standard goods vehicles.
